Make Way for May
Beware of Brown Patch
May is the time to be alert for signs of disease in your yard, and one of the most common lawn diseases in our area is brown patch. True to its name, brown patch kills off some or all of the grass in a roughly circular spot on the yard, making the turf appear thin and brown in affected areas. Brown patch loves warmth and moisture, so as the heat and humidity rise in May, so do the signs of disease. Luckily, PPLM is proud to take preventative measures to reduce the chance of diseases like brown patch in the yards we maintain. Mowing too low weakens grass, so our lawn care technicians mow a bit higher to keep turf healthy and lush. In addition, our organic fertilizer program is uniquely formulated to make your lawn healthy and able to resist disease. However, if you notice any evidence of brown patch, contact us immediately. Our team is able to treat brown patch with fungicides and conscientious management, but the longer it sits in your yard the more likely it is to spread and settle into the soil. Healthy lawns are happy lawns, so call us today to discuss full service with mowing and fertilizer treatment to make your yard look picture perfect!
Ready for Round Two!
Our fertilization team has just started applying our second round of treatment, also known as the Replenisher round. This application is expertly designed for late spring lawns by utilizing pre- and post-emergent weed control and high quality fertilizer. The pre-emergent we use in this application works to control the germination and spread of crabgrass and similar weeds. The post-emergent weed control specially targets unwanted plant growth that has developed or lingered since our first round of treatment a couple of months ago. The fertilizer that is included is organic based and is a combination of quick and slow release product, ensuring that your yard stays green and healthy all through the end of spring. Please call us today if you have any questions or are interested in an estimate for fertilization!

Rainy Day Policy
With the rain we’ve been getting on an almost weekly basis, there may be some confusion as to how the weather affects our service routes and schedules. If you receive our mowing services, please read on for details.
Our mowing clients have the option to receive weekly or bi-weekly mowing. We set mowing clients on a specific day of the week to offer consistency and efficiency, but sometimes it rains during the week on or before your scheduled day. Many of our competitors will just skip clients who get rained out until they appear on the schedule again the next week or later, but as a result it can be several weeks before your yard actually ends up getting mowed and trimmed. We do our best to avoid having to pass over a scheduled route, so if it rains for one or two days during the week, routes scheduled on the day of rain and after get shifted later in the week. For example, if you are usually scheduled on a Tuesday, but it rains that day, you will be moved to Wednesday for that week. We will only cancel a service due to weather if it rains three or more days during the week. If you ever have questions about our weather expectations for the week, whether or not your schedule is affected, or what day you’re typically mowed, please feel free to contact us anytime.
